The story
The house began as an olive press and was farmed for generations before it was ours.
Very little has been added since. Walls were consolidated, floors re-laid in stone from the same quarry, and the press room returned to a single volume. The intention was continuity rather than transformation.
Architecture
Thick local marés, lime plaster, chestnut beams, unlacquered brass.
Openings are modest because the sun is not. Nothing here is intended to look new, and nothing is intended to look staged.
Landscape
Olive trees on dry-stone terraces, a walled kitchen garden, almond and fig above the track.
The Tramuntana holds the weather at a distance. The land is worked, not arranged.
Rooms
Linen, woodsmoke, and cool floors underfoot.
Rooms open to the courtyard rather than to a corridor, so the house is entered by degrees.
The table
Dinner is whatever the garden and the coast allow. There is no menu.
Guests eat together or not at all, as they wish. The best evenings run long.
Rituals
Coffee under the fig early. The pool at its best before the light comes over the ridge.
Nothing at all happens in the middle of the afternoon.
